Dr. Lopita Nath is a distinguished educator and scholar with over three decades of experience in higher education, having held faculty positions at premier institutions such as the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas; William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia; the University of Virginia at Wise, Virginia; and Cotton University in India. Her extensive academic career is defined by her deep expertise in Asian and World History, Migration Studies, Refugee Issues, and Human Rights.
Currently serving as the Chair of the History Department and Coordinator of the Asian Studies Program at the University of the Incarnate Word, Dr. Nath has made significant contributions to her fields of expertise, particularly in human displacement and resettlement, with a specialized focus on the Bhutanese refugee crisis. A Fulbright Scholar and recipient of the prestigious Social Science Research Council Award, her groundbreaking research, which includes fieldwork in Bhutanese refugee camps in Nepal and comprehensive studies of resettled communities across the United States, is highly regarded in academic and policy-making circles. Her forthcoming book on Bhutanese refugee resettlement is eagerly anticipated as a significant contribution to the field.
